Final Results of the Second Annual International and Comparative Disaster Law Essay Contest co-Organised by the Jean Monnet IEUDL Module, IFRC and ASIL

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the American Society of International Law Disaster Law Interest Group, the Jean Monnet Module on “International and EU Law” at Roma Tre University and the International Disaster Law Project are extremely pleased to announce the winner of the Second Annual International and Comparative Disaster Law Essay Contest!

We offer our sincere congratulations to Ms. Miki Ishimori of the Department of Law and Criminology at Aberystwyth University in Japan. Ms. Ishimori’s essay addresses the ‘Right to housing after Fukushima nuclear disaster: through a lens of international human rights perspective’, which has now been published as a “Working Paper” of the IFRC’s Disaster Law Programme. Ms. Ishimori has also won a monetary prize of 500 Euros offered by the Jean Monnet Module, and a free annual membership with the American Society of International Law.

Of honorable mention the paper of Ms. Yung-hua Kuo on ‘Implementing International Laws for Internally Displaced Persons in Situation of Natural Disasters’ has also been published as a “Working Paper” of the IFRC’s Disaster Law Programme. Ms. Yung-hua Kuo is a PhD Candidate at the University of Washington School of Law.
